Boudewijn Rempt is a 37-year old developer with Tryllian Solutions in Amsterdam. In 2003 he started looking for a free software graphics application to hack on, having just gotten a small wacom tablet for his birthday. Krita, formerly known as KImageShop and Krayon, was small and written in Qt -- Boudewijn's favourite toolkit even in his Python days -- so it was ideal to get started on. Hacking on Krita meant involvment in KOffice, which in its turn meant giving the initial impetus for the flake architecture in KOffice 2.0, which among other things brings text and vector graphics to Krita. Boudewijn was interviewed for People in KDE in 2006.
