Relativity: The Special and General Computer Graphics

Speaker: Zack Rusin

Computer graphics is a highly complex and actively researched field in computer science. Its sheer complexity is often overwhelming for everyone but the most vicious mathematicians among the computer scientists. Historically there has been a strong connection between the concept of computer graphics and art. The impetus for both is often called creativity. Through vast amounts of creativity most of the core ideas behind KDE came into existence. From loins of the KDE engineers ideas were born that were meant to change the way we think about computers. In this talk I'll show how by severely reducing the need for mathematical knowledge and art skills, and by making natural use of creativity, so prevalent in our community, one can give the ideas behind KDE 4 shape, soul and heart. Eye-candy will be served in abundance.

[Zack Rusin]

Zack Rusin's elusive nature makes him hard to describe in a short bio. Zack is a computer graphics expert, a long time KDE and Open Source developer, the Trolltech's graphics ninja, creativity monster who feeds on life, and most importantly, a blue-eyed, outspoken dreamer who will make you remember him.
