KDE on Mac OS X - Taking the 'D' out of KDE

Speaker: Benjamin Reed

While KDE has long worked on Mac OS X through Apple's X11 server, KDE4 will be the first release to officially support native display through Qt/Mac. A number of new technologies, as well as the dedicated work of a lot of folks, has made this possible.

KDE has a surprisingly long history on Mac OS X, and I will give some background as to how it got this far.

I will also discuss interesting technical aspects of making a desktop environment work on a system that already has a desktop, as well as what still needs to be done to better integrate KDE applications with the Mac OS X environment.
